My grandson is doing great and we are so very blessed and thankful for his recovery. Hubby has had some health issues but after a hospital stay, medication and a lifestyle change, he is recovering also. I have tried to keep up with the blogs but just didn't take the time to post. Thanks to all who have emailed and kept in touch. I sincerely appreciate your prayers and concern.

I wanted to stop in and wish you all a very Merry Christmas! It will definitely be merry at our home this year. God Bless!! When he was born, we were told he had a slight heart murmur but that it would probably correct itself. We were not too concerned since our other grandson had the same problem and after one month it was gone. Bradley's did not go away so his pediatrician sent him to a cardiologist and he found a coarctation of the aorta which is basically a kinked aorta. He will be admitted on Monday, the 23rd for pre-op testing and another ultrasound and then surgery early on the 24th. He will be on a ventilator for 24 to 48 hours and if all goes well should be released in 5 to 7 days. Please pray for this little guy. I know God is in charge but a few extra prayers can't hurt. I will try to post more details as we learn more. Thanks!! Spring has been really busy. Three of our grandchildren were playing ball, of course, all at different fields and times (although some were at the same time!) so we were all over the place. But it was fun!! Glad it's over for now.

The house is painted!! FINALLY!! Took the painter a while to get started but he did a great job and we have now hired him to paint the porch railings, stain the deck and replace the screen on our porch. Did not plan on spending the extra money but time has not permitted us to get much maintenance done on the house this year. I also did not plan on spending over $2,000.00 on a new washer and dryer either!!! Not happy about that but when the repairman told us it would cost over $800.00 to fix the washer we decided we could probably get a new one for not much more than that. So shopping we go and hubby wants a matching set. Yes, I said hubby, not me, wants a matching set!!! My washer and dryer are behind closed doors so I really don't care if they match or not. Anyway, we got 'em and they will be delivered after we get back from vacation in a couple of weeks. Anybody have the ones with the steam features? I have heard they are really good but haven't used them myself so we shall see if the "steam" is worth the extra money. I sure hope so!!!

My post on this Memorial Day is in memory of my brother, Kenneth Allen Mason, killed in Vietnam on January 5, 1969. Thanks brother....I love you and miss you.....

Took a trip to San Antonio, Texas for a few days. Enjoyed absolutely beautiful and warm weather and came home to cold and yuck. LOL!! Except for spending 14 hours in airports trying to get to Texas, the trip was great. Don't think I want to fly Delta again. The first delay was because of weather conditions in Atlanta with fog. That delay caused us to miss our flight out of Atlanta and the next flight was 6 hours later. Well, we got reassigned to the later flight and when we checked in the exact words out of his mouth were "you are not on this flight, you left on the 1:42 flight". Huh, do you not see me standing here? After about 15 minutes, he finally confirmed our flight and we were on our way, thank goodness!! It only took a little over 5 hours to get home and that was with a one hour layover in Dallas. Here is a view from our hotel on the Riverwalk.
I am on this computer every day but don't seem to get anything done. I log on with the intention to post to this blog but then never get to it. I start reading emails, then answering emails and before I know it the clock says its time to leave for work. I get home, get dinner done, clean the kitchen and do whatever needs to be done around the house, get on the computer with the intention to post and.....well, you know the routine. Do you feel like you waste a lot of time by not getting to what you intend to do or is it just me? I think I'm getting old and forgetful. LOL!!

Anyway, let's see what has been happening around here. I finally got my trashy swap items complete and will be mailing those out tomorrow. I didn't mean to wait until the last minute to finish up but with all the snow we have had, I didn't get to the thrift stores until just a couple of weeks ago. I will be so glad when winter is over. We don't usually get much snow but this winter we have had more than we have had in many years. Maybe that's what is wrong with me, my brain is frozen!!!

Oh, look at what I got.......
I am having lots of fun!! This is one of those market totes with the zippered top that I embroidered on. I have been invited to two baby showers this weekend and have embroidered on some receiving blankets, burp clothes and socks. Still have lots to learn though. I put Shelby's initials on one of her pullover tops and they ended up being inside out. LOL!! She was so sweet about it and said "Nana, that's OK, I can wear it when we paint together." Thank the good Lord, I never do wrong in her eyes.

Speaking of painting, the house is still not done. The painter called Monday and said it would be another two weeks before he could start. I'm glad he has plenty of work but I really want this house DONE!! I don't like living in a mess...arrgghhh!!
Read this....A taxi passenger leaned forward to ask the driver a question, gently tapping him on a shoulder to get his attention. The driver screamed, lost control of the cab, nearly hit a truck, drove over the curb and plowed through the window of a store. Still shaking, the driver turned to the passenger and asked "Are you OK? I am sorry, but you scared the daylights out of me." The badly shaken passenger apologized to the driver. "But I didn't realize that a mere tap on the shoulder would startle you so badly," he added. "No, no," said the driver. "It's my fault. Today is my first day driving a taxi. I've been driving a hearse for the past 25 years."

As with each new year, I hope to make positive changes in my life and home. More exercise is always on the list and for the past couple of years that has been a permanent change. I will try to step it up a notch in 2010 and work a little harder. I have already started making changes to our home. The red wall around the fireplace....well, it's not red anymore. I decided to paint it the same color as the rest of the room and we are going to change the white trim to a color called bittersweet. Also, changing colors in other rooms as well. I always second guess the colors I pick out but hopefully it will all come together. I will try and get some pictures posted of the colors and see what you think. Heading to work now so have a great New Year's Eve!!!! Thanks to all who have been a part of my life in 2009 and I look forward to more great friendships in 2010~~~Hugs, Chatty KathyChatty Kathy~Palmetto Primshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06218997693786474988noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2903584215809553193.post-14845788730143097702009-12-22T19:58:00.001-05:002009-12-22T19:59:34.969-05:00Merry Christmas to my dear friends!
December has flown by and Christmas is here!! It has been a busy month and I think all I have left to do is wrap a couple of gifts and buy all my canine friends a little something. At last count, I needed twelve doggie treats ...LOL!!! I’ll pick those up tomorrow after work, get a few things at the grocery store and then head home to prepare for our family get together on Christmas Eve.

I’m not sure I will have an opportunity to post over the next few days so I just wanted to leave a quick note to wish all my friends a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and say THANK YOU for your visits and comments. I have made lots of new friends through blogland and look forward to more friendships in the coming new year.

May God shower you with blessings at Christmas and all through the year!! Merry Christmas everyone!!! I hope Santa is good to you!!!

Chatty Kathy
Chatty Kathy~Palmetto Primshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06218997693786474988noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2903584215809553193.post-27324459306700119682009-12-07T20:01:00.001-05:002009-12-07T20:01:07.017-05:00My Olde Fashioned Christmas Swap
goodies arrived this week from Tammy and they are wonderful. Look at what I got!!!

<img title="Christmas Swap Tammy 002" style="border-right: 0px; Enjoy!!

The man slowly looked up. This was a woman clearly accustomed to the finer things of life. Her coat was new. She looked like she had never missed a meal in her life. His first thought was that she wanted to make fun of him, like so many others had done before."Leave me alone," he growled... To his amazement, the woman continued standing. She was smiling -- her even white teeth displayed in dazzling rows. "Are you hungry?" she asked. "No," he answered sarcastically. "I've just come from dining with the president. Now go away. The woman's smile became even broader. Suddenly the man felt a gentle hand under his arm. "What are you doing, lady?" the man asked angrily. "I said to leave me alone."

Just then a policeman came up. "Is there any problem, ma'am?" he asked. "No problem here, officer," the woman answered. "I'm just trying to get this man to his feet. Will you help me?" The officer scratched his head. "That's old Jack. He's been a fixture around here for a couple of years. What do you want with him?" "See that cafeteria over there?" she asked. "I'm going to get him something to eat and get him out of the cold for awhile." "Are you crazy, lady?" the homeless man resisted. "I don't want to go in there!"

Then he felt strong hands grab his other arm and lift him up. "Let me go, officer. I didn't do anything.." "This is a good deal for you, Jack," the officer answered. "Don't blow it." Finally, and with some difficulty, the woman and the police officer got Jack into the cafeteria and sat him at a table in a remote corner. It was the middle of the morning, so most of the breakfast crowd had already left and the lunch bunch had not yet arrived. The manager strode across the cafeteria and stood by his table. "What's going on here, officer?" he asked. "What is all this, is this man in trouble?" "This lady brought this man in here to be fed," the policeman answered. "Not in here!" the manager replied angrily. "Having a person like that here is bad for business."

Old Jack smiled a toothless grin. "See, lady. I told you so. Now if you'll let me go. I didn't want to come here in the first place." The woman turned to the cafeteria manager and smiled. "Sir, are you familiar with Eddy and Associates, the banking firm down the street?" "Of course I am," the manager answered impatiently. "They hold their weekly meetings in one of my banquet rooms." "And do you make a goodly amount of money providing food at these weekly meetings?" "What business is that of yours?" "I, sir, am Penelope Eddy, president and CEO of the company." "Oh." The woman smiled again.. "I thought that might make a difference."

She glanced at the cop who was busy stifling a laugh. "Would you like to join us in a cup of coffee and a meal, officer?" "No thanks, ma'am," the officer replied. "I'm on duty." "Then, perhaps, a cup of coffee to go?" "Yes, ma'am. That would be very nice." The cafeteria manager turned on his heel. "I'll get your coffee for you right away, officer." The officer watched him walk away. "You certainly put him in his place," he said. "That was not my intent.. Believe it or not, I have a reason for all this."

She sat down at the table across from her amazed dinner guest. She stared at him intently. "Jack, do you remember me?" Old Jack searched her face with his old, rheumy eyes. "I think so -- I mean you do look familiar." "I'm a little older perhaps," she said. "Maybe I've even filled out more than in my younger days when you worked here, and I came through that very door, cold and hungry." "Ma'am?" the officer said questioningly. He couldn't believe that such a magnificently turned out woman could ever have been hungry. "I was just out of college," the woman began. "I had come to the city looking for a job, but I couldn't find anything. Finally I was down to my last few cents and had been kicked out of my apartment. I walked the streets for days. It was February and I was cold and nearly starving. I saw this place and walked in on the off chance that I could get somethingto eat." Jack lit up with a smile. "Now I remember," he said. "I was behind the serving counter. You came up and asked me if you could work for something to eat. I said that it was against company policy." "I know," the woman continued..... "Then you made me the biggest roast beef sandwich that I had ever seen, gave me a cup of coffee, and told me to go over to a corner table and enjoy it. I was afraid that you would get into trouble.. Then, when I looked over and saw you put the price of my food in the cash register, I knew then that everything would be all right."

"So you started your own business?" Old Jack said. "I got a job that very afternoon. I worked my way up. Eventually I started my own business that, with the help of God, prospered." She opened her purse and pulled out a business card. "When you are finished here, I wantyou to pay a visit to a Mr. Lyons. He's the personnel director of my company. I'll go talk to him now and I'm certain he'll find something for you to do around the office." She smiled. "I think he might even find the funds to give you a little advance so that you can buy some clothes and get a place to live until you get on your feet. If you ever need anything, my door is always open to you."

There were tears in the old man's eyes. "How can I ever thank you?" he asked."Don't thank me," the woman answered. "To God goes the glory. He led me to you." Outside the cafeteria, the officer and the woman paused at the entrance before going their separate ways. "Thank you for your help officer," she said. "On the contrary, Ms. Eddy," he answered. "Thank you. Not sure if it will be a door prize or if we will sell $1.00 tickets and have a drawing later in the day. All proceeds go to local children’s shelters, Toys for Tots, Meals on Wheels or other local charities. In fact, the car registration fee is a money donation (any amount) or donate a toy. An Edsel wagon will be filled to the roof and overflowing with toys. We have lots and fun and I look forward to this show every year. My nephew works really hard to put this together but his love for helping children makes it worth it!! I am very proud of him!! Go to Mason’s Hot Rods to see pics from past shows. If you are in our area tomorrow, be sure and come by!! I will be at the registration table!! Hugs, Chatty Kathy
Chatty Kathy~Palmetto Primshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06218997693786474988noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2903584215809553193.post-37168398564765806642009-10-30T08:03:00.001-04:002009-10-30T08:03:59.087-04:00Fall pics and a finished project…finally!

This is one of the stitcheries I have been working on. Simple design and worked up pretty quick (I can’t think of the designer at the moment, sorry). I saw a frame while we were in Georgia that had the center part raised up so I decided to make me one. I think it turned out great!! With the center frame being raised a bit, you have a place on the back to insert your picture and not have to route the frame out. I was going to put it at the antique mall for sale but I am growing very attached, so we will see where it ends up!! LOL!

Here are just a few pics of some fall displays in my home. Enjoy!

Time for work, be back soon!! Hugs and Happy Halloween!!

Chatty Kathy
Chatty Kathy~Palmetto Primshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06218997693786474988noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2903584215809553193.post-43569000083139693632009-10-17T08:46:00.002-04:002009-10-17T08:47:58.223-04:00Great giveaway!!Check out this blog for a great giveaway!!
